Blog Entry - Back In Action... Again!
September 23, 2012
I’m noticing a bit of a trend when it comes to writing blog posts. It’s probably best described as a roller coaster; I’ll write a couple entries for a few months, then will get bored and ignore it for a while, only to come back later with a need to vent. Well this time it’s different!
Getting involved in media for school (which I’ll dive into detail a little later) it’s kinda necessary to have a blog, and to regularly be posting in it.So a quick update as to what I’ve been up to lately. Went through a huge life change recently with a move to Vancouver to attend the Vancouver Institute of Media Arts (VanArts) where I’m now taking the Broadcasting for Radio & TV program. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for YEARS, and with a recent break-up providing additional motivation, I took the plunge and made the move. After about two weeks of classes I’m still enjoying going to class every day. Our first project involves promotion; we’re given “prizes” that we need to figure out how to give away and market into an on-air contest. I bounced ideas around for the last couple weeks and have a pretty good idea of what I’d like to do, and on Monday I will be in production finalizing everything. I’ll be sure to post it here once I’m done. This time around however I’ve attached my first commercial that was completely written, recorded, and produced by me. Check it out here:

My living situation is also very different than most would expect. There are 11 of us living in a condo in Yaletown, so the area is a little congested, however overall I’m enjoying it; I get a long well with most of the other roommates, and have really clicked with a couple. I picture this being a time of my life that I look back on and reminisce about.
I’ve also just started working at BC Place which is pretty darn convenient since the stadium is literally a two minute walk from my place. I’ll be doing Housekeeping to help pay the bills until school is done.
That’s about it for this update; however I’ll be posting info about concerts, music, media etc as well as whatever personal thoughts make their way onto the keyboard. So stay tuned!
Canucks Road Hockey Game
Under the Cambie Street bridge, December 5th 2012
NHL Lockout? What's that? In spite of a seemingly endless lockout, two of Vancouver's favorite players organized an unexpected road hockey game for anyone who had a stick. It was fantastic to watch Ryan Kesler and Kevin Bieksa play shifts with so many different people; from the old to the young, male and female, everyone had a great time. In the end, Team Bieksa won after a shootout, which included players like the Green Men, and Mark Donnelly.
It may not have been an actual NHL game, but it was enough to hold us over for... Well a few minutes :)
BRING BACK MORE NHL!
